During the course of the school year, this class will focus on understanding and addressing the writing process through the completion of multiple compositions related to a variety of genres and for a multitude of purposes. Each week students will independently engage in literary reflection and analysis with a short writing activity by responding to reading and visual literature. Collaboration with peers will be an ongoing model as effective communication and listening skills are facilitated. Other skills that will be taught throughout the course will consist of grammar usage and mechanics, building vocabulary, poetry, identifying figurative language, organization and successful note-taking utilizing Cornell Notes. The main goal is to make sure that students feel confident in what they are producing each day.
